Tips on how to have a safe and wonderful Spring Break

• Remember not to share too much on social media. Post pictures when you return from vacation.

• Have a someone you trust check your mail while you are out

• Consider using a timer for a light within your house.

• Never leave personal items visible in your car/rental car

• If staying at a hotel remember to check the room first to ensure the windows are secure, that you know where the fire escapes are located and think twice about booking a 1st floor room. Statistics show that more thefts occur in first floor rooms.

• If you are leaving the country make sure you scan a copy of your passport and email it to yourself and a close family member. Also, take a picture of it and save it to your cell phone.

• Utilize websites like booking.com, agoda.com, priceline.com, hotelscombinded.com, hotwire.com, etc. There really are so many great sites so do your homework and definitely don’t overpay for a hotel room if you don’t have to.

• If you are renting a car they say avoid renting at the airport, don’t book at the counter, if possible reserve a smaller car and rent for longer periods of time. There is no need to buy the rental car insurance as long as your personal insurance policy has collision and comprehensive coverage (ask your Agent about your coverage to be safe).

• Try to buy your airline tickets 2 months ahead of time-they say some of the best pricing also occurs on Tuesdays.

• Consider visiting museums, national or state parks. Many times, they are free and they offer amazing experiences.

• Parents don’t forget to pack snacks if you have little ones. It’s hard to travel with kids because they get bored quite easily. As a mom of 3 I know packing extra snacks will always help with meltdowns and boredom. It kind of re-starts them and saves our sanity. I think we as adults need a few snacks as well.

We hope you have a wonderful Spring Break and make some great memories!
